DOCUMENT PROCESSING METHOD, APPARATUS AND PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically conceal particular information in a document when distributing the document and to enable only people who know how to read a digital watermark in advance to read the original information from the document where the particular information is kept secret.

SOLUTION: When a document where particular information to be concealed with a mark is inputted, the document marked is substituted by a concealing image, and the particular image before the substitution is embedded in the concealing image using a digital watermark embedding technique. When the document where the particular information was substituted is inputted, the portion of the concealing image in the document is extracted and a digital watermark detecting technique is used on the concealing image to obtain the particular information embedded in the concealing image. The concealing image is substituted by the embedded particular information obtained in a watermark detection step.
