PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire capable of optimizing braking effectiveness under wet conditions. SOLUTION: A pneumatic tire 10 includes a tread 12 comprising c plurality of blocks sectioned by a plurality of main grooves and lateral grooves extending in the tire peripheral direction, and a projection 28 projecting therefrom is formed to extend along a projection wall 18E in the tire width direction. When the height of the blocks is set as H<SB>0</SB>and the distance between a tread face 18A of the blocks and a projection apex 28A of the projection 28 is set to H, the following equation is satisfied: 0<H<H<SB>0</SB>/2. When a braking force F is applied during traveling on wet roads, the blocks are inclined and the projection 28 comes into contact with the road surface so that a water film formed thereon is wiped away earlier than a projection end 18D.
