PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accelerate filtering processing and to reduce a memory using amount. SOLUTION: An XPath expression processing system for processing a branch XPath expression for filtering XML data 130 comprises: an XPath expression storage device 120 for storing the plurality of input branch XPath expressions; a path extractor 160 for extracting a target path for each branch XPath expression stored in the XPath expression storage device 120 and an absolute path and a scope path for each predicate; and a shared index constructing device 150 for turning the respective paths extracted by the path extractor 160 to nodes, sharing partially equal nodes or links between the nodes as sharable parts and constructing one shared index from the plurality of branch XPath expressions.
