The reserve parachute has a cut-out (2) in the canopy (1), and an upper (4) and a lower (5) cover are provided above and below a spread element (3). The cut-out is slightly larger than the extent of the upper cover, and the upper cover is fastened directly to the edge zone of the cut-out. The reserve parachute on its outer side, starting at the cut-out, has top closed and bottom open pockets (7). The upper cover via a securing device is removable from the spread element in conjunction with its deployment, and the bottom cover is supported on the packed parachute.
