PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a saponification product of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer in which the polymerization is carried out with little scale coating and a saponification product being suitably used for producing a film with no coloring and little fish eye is prepared. SOLUTION: The copolymerization of ethylene and vinyl acetate is carried out in a solvent under the coexistence of crotonaldehyde, to manufacture ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, and further saponified as needed to manufacture the saponification object of the ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer.
