A thermoplastic polymeric film which shrinks in a monoaxial direction by less than 5% when heated to a first temperature and by at least 25% when heated to a second temperature. The first temperature and second temperature having a temperature interval of no more than 30 C. The film may be used to envelop an outer surface portion of a container. The enveloping of the outer surface portion may closely and substantially uniformly follow the contour thereof.
