<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging system whose determination precision has been improved when using face recognition software. <P>SOLUTION: The imaging system uses an infrared emitter 30 that emits an infrared signal along a predetermined field-of-view, and an infrared sensor 34 for receiving reflected infrared illumination from objects in the field-of-view. A processor including the face recognition software is used to detect human faces to identify and track a person. The infrared emitter is subjected to pulse operation for a prescribed number of frames in video data for a prescribed time interval, and is subjected to pulse stop for a prescribed time interval over the same number of frames in video data.
