<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent blurring of a video image, while preventing burn-in of a screen without the sense of visual incongruity. <P>SOLUTION: When the burn-in is prevented by transferring a display position of the video image, the display position is moved so that the amount of transfer of the video image in a single step becomes under one pixel in appearance by changing display levels in the respective pixels of the video image to a display level at the adjacent pixel through a plurality of steps. Moreover, if the variation of display levels of the respective pixels in a process for moving the video image by one pixel is defined as X, the length of a first display period until the display levels in the respective pixels change from the level before transfer by (X/3) is defined as T1, the length of a second display period until the display levels change by (X/3) from the end of the first display period is defined as T2, and the length of a third display period until the display levels change by (X/3) from the end of the second display period to be the level after transfer is defined as T3 in the process, the display position of the video image is moved such that T1>T2 and T2<T3 result.
