PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine stably supplying gas fuel into a combustion chamber without consuming the shaft output of the engine. SOLUTION: The internal combustion engine 1 comprises a main combustion chamber 63 and a sub combustion chamber 61, and a fuel supply mechanism 70. The fuel supply mechanism 70 supplies fuel into the main combustion chamber 63 and the sub combustion chamber 61. The fuel supply mechanism 70 consists of a first compressor 71, a fuel reformer 72, and a first turbine 74. The first compressor 71 compresses first gas. The first gas contains fresh air. The fuel reformer 72 uses part of the first gas compressed by the first compressor 71 for reforming part of liquid fuel with exothermic reaction to produce gas fuel.
