PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic component holding mechanism which can set the optimal pressure angle for each process processing and control it easily, and also allows Z-axis positional control by an accurate motor pulse resolution. SOLUTION: The electronic component holding and transferring mechanism is composed of a movable holding means which can move back and forth while holding an electronic component, a transfer mechanism, a holder driving mechanism for moving the movable holding means to make it deliver and receive the electronic component to and from a process processing mechanism, and a controller. A main part which is the holder driving mechanism is constituted of a motor, an encoder, a drum cam, and a rod. By changing the angle of the drum cam, the inclination of linearity can be set optimally for each process processing, setting the optimal pressure angle for each process processing, and allowing Z-axis positional control by an accurate motor pulse resolution.
