PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device capable of simultaneously and high-speed controlling optical demultiplexing function and optical switch functions. SOLUTION: The optical device has a solid-state material exhibiting optical magnetoelectric effect that is a magnetoelectric effect, non-reciprocal directional dichroism, non-reciprocal directional birefringence, or gyrotropic effect, and also has a diffraction grating on the surface of the solid-state material to have the optical switching function and optical demultiplexing function.
