PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter having high dust removal capability in a magnetic disk unit that positions a magnetic head on a rotating magnetic disk to access the magnetic disk. SOLUTION: A magnetic disk unit has a ramp 21 for holding a magnetic head 13 at a position separated from a magnetic disk 12, and a filter case 32 for holding a filter 33, which removes dust in an air stream flowing through the unit in accordance with rotation of the magnetic disk 12, in a folded condition so as to enclose the ramp 21 in cooperation with the magnetic disk 12.
