A luggage rack arrangement has a pair of railings (10), each formed of hollow extruded aluminum profile, installed relative to the length of the vehicle roof. Each railing has an accessible receiving chamber (14) at each end (19). Each receiving chamber is connected to mounting bores (17) at the lower surface (15) of each railing end. The lower surface of each railing end conforms to the vehicle roof surface.
