PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce capacity of memory required to generate a compensating image signal from the main image signal and the black image signal and assure that the band of data bus connected with the memory becomes the band required for compensating process in the case where the image signal is outputted via a plurality of channels. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus comprises CCDs (141 to 143) for outputting the generated image signal via a plurality of channels, a shutter (151), a CPU (102) for outputting in parallel the main image signal generated by the CCD under the exposure condition from a plurality of channels and controlling the black image signal generated by the CCD under the light shielding condition to be outputted from the CCD on the time division basis among a plurality of channels, a RAM (115) for storing in parallel the main image signal, and an arithmetic means for obtaining the compensating image signal on the basis of the main image signal stored in the RAM and black image signal.
