Disclosed are a high luminance phosphor emitting orange-red light and a light-emitting device using such a high luminance phosphor. Specifically disclosed is a light-emitting device comprising a light-emitting element (1) having an emission peak wavelength in a range from 300 nm to 530 nm, and a phosphor (2) which absorbs light from the light-emitting element (1) and emits light having an emission peak wavelength different from that of the light-emitting element (1) through wavelength conversion.
