PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alloy for an electrode, which solves the problem of plastic processability of a conventional Ni-Nb alloy for an electrode and exerts a sputtering resistance equivalent to or higher than that of the conventional Ni-Nb alloy for the electrode. SOLUTION: The alloy for the electrode for a cold-cathode discharge tube comprises, by mass,≥1.0% but <6.0% Nb, 3.0-15.0% Mo and the balance substantially being Ni and unavoidable impurities.
