PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient desulfurizing treatment method for molten iron with which, when applying the desulfurizing treatment to the molten iron by using a mechanical stirring type desulfurizing device, desulfurizing efficiency can be improved in comparison with the conventional method. SOLUTION: When the desulfurizing treatment is applied to the molten iron 3 by using the mechanical stirring type desulfurizing device, the desulfurizing treatment is applied by supplying a wire 7 for iron-coated desulfurization coating desulfurizing agent obtained by coating the desulfurizing agent with a iron based sheath material, into the molten iron stirred with a refractory-made stirring body 4. At this time, addition of the desulfurizing agent on the molten iron can be used together. In this way, even in the case of being fine powdery desulfurizing agent, this agent is added to the molten iron without scattering and the desulfurizing treatment can efficiently be performed.
