PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide apparatus having a recess formed in a clad to reserve a core material overflowing from a groove and to decrease the amount of the core material remaining in a fabrication part in an optical waveguide apparatus having a groove to form the core by filling a resin and having a fabrication part to position and fix optical fibers and guide pins formed in the clad part, and to provide a method for manufacturing the optical waveguide apparatus. SOLUTION: When the groove 12 in a lower clad layer 11 is filled with a core material to form the core 16 and pressed with a flat plate, the core material overflowing from the groove flows into the fabrication part to fix optical fibers 17a to 17c and further falls into a resin reservoir 15a disposed in the lowermost part of the fabrication part 13a to 13c. This prevents the core material from remaining in the fabrication part 13a to 13c to such a degree to inhibit installation of optical fibers. The optical waveguide apparatus 10 is used after the optical fibers 17a to 17c are installed and then covered with an upper clad layer 18 and a glass sheet 19. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
