<p>A holder or support (100,200), which includes a light source (122) such as a light emitting diode, for a backlit component (102), such as a liquid crystal display for a car instrumentation panel, provides illumination (135) for the backlit component (102). The holder (100,200) may be a one-piece holder and is made from a polymeric material and comprises a first portion (214) including one or more fluorescing materials and/or diffusing substances, wherein the first portion is proximate to the light source and has a shape that approximates that of the light source, in order to minimise a colour variation. A trim plate (316) for a backlit display (300,400) is also disclosed. The trim plate (316) has a front face (318) which provides both a solid support for graphic indicia (332,404) and illumination for the graphic indicia (332,404).</p> |
