摘要 Provided is a battery management system, which controls each battery cell regardless of the control of a charging circuit, and allows a user to know the remaining capacity of a battery cell and to predict a cell exchange time. The battery management system for a battery module having a plurality of battery cells connected to each other in series or in parallel comprises: a plurality of slave modules(20,30), which is connected individually to each battery module(40,50) to collect and report the cell voltage and cell temperature of each battery cell, and to perform cell balancing via selective discharging of each battery cell; and a master module for controlling each battery module by collecting the cell voltage and cell temperature reported from each slave module, the master module selectively controlling cell balancing of each battery cell through the slave module when a difference of the cell voltage from a reference voltage exceeds a predetermined critical value.
