The machine (1) has two edge plates (10, 11) for positioning a bale in the machine, and a fork (7) comprising two parallel rods and movable in translation along a longitudinal direction of the rods. One of the rods is inserted at the interior of the bale close to metallic maintaining wires following the displacement of the fork, and another rod is extended outside the bale after the bale is positioned. A cutting disk (30) is driven in rotation and displaced along the edge plate (11) for cutting the wires.
