The slide has a movable section (1) and fixed section (2) sliding with respect to each other along a longitudinal direction. The sections (1, 2) are fixed to a seat and floor of a vehicle, respectively. The sections (1, 2 ) have attachments (3, 3`) located in such a way to form a positive stop between the sections when the slide is subjected to constraints and to arrange clearances (4, 4`) respectively between the attachment (3) and section (2) and between the attachment (3`) and section (1) when the slide is not deformed. An independent claim is also included for a seat of a motor vehicle maintained on a floor of the vehicle by a slide.
