PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting the flow state of oceanic layers and capable of grasping behaviors of a discharged liquid even in an oceanic intermediate layer. SOLUTION: Both an ocean towed body 4 to be towed by a ship 1 navigating on the ocean and a wire 11 for maintaining a data carrier 12 in an oceanic layer of a prescribed depth are provided. The state of diffusion of a fluorescent dye discharged is predicted on the basis of behaviors of a buoy 102 and tracked by adjusting the course of the ship. Tracking information is transmitted to the ship 1 via the ocean towed body 4 to grasp a distribution and behaviors of diffusion of the fluorescent dye and derive the flow state of the prescribed oceanic layer.
