A wrinkle-preventive/ameliorating agent comprising one or more compounds selected from the group consisting of an a-amino acid derivative represented by the general formula (1) and a salt thereof: wherein R<SUB>1</SUB> represents a hydrogen atom or a group -CH<SUB>3</SUB> or CH<SUB>2</SUB>OH; R<SUB>2</SUB> and R<SUB>3</SUB> independently represent a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or the like, provided that a situation where both R<SUB>2</SUB> and R<SUB>3</SUB> represent a hydrogen atom does not occur, or R<SUB>2</SUB> and R<SUB>3</SUB>, together with an N atom to which R<SUB>2</SUB> and R<SUB>3</SUB> are attached, may form a cyclic structure having 4 to 6 carbon atoms in total where the cyclic structure may have an oxygen atom; and R<SUB>4</SUB> represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms or the like, provided that a situation where one of R<SUB>2</SUB> and R<SUB>3</SUB> is a benzyloxycarbonyl group and the other is a hydrogen atom does not occur when both R<SUB>1</SUB> and R<SUB>4</SUB> represent a hydrogen atom.
