<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable accurate and effective face detection by making good use of advantages of various normalization processing regarding normalizing processing applying on a detection target image as preceding processing, in the process for detecting the face image from the detection target image. <P>SOLUTION: In a rough detection step in which a face image candidate is sampled from the detection target images as the preceding processing to an image as a processing target, the whole normalizing processing converting pixel values of the whole image in a short processing time on the basis of one conversion curve is adopted (step S3). In a narrowing step for determining whether or not the face image candidate is a real face image, local normalizing processing, which has a long processing time but can expect great effects, is adopted (step S11). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
