GAS CLEANING CATALYST AND PRODUCTION METHOD OF THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas cleaning catalyst which is capable of efficiently removing carbon dioxide and environmental pollutants existing in air at a normal temperature even in a large air volume and whose catalytic function is scarcely deteriorated with the lapse of time and little affected by water in air and to provide a production method of the catalyst.

SOLUTION: The gas cleaning catalyst comprises a zirconium oxide carrier having a specific surface area of 15 m2/g or higher and 60 m2/g or less and a crystallite diameter of 120Å or larger and 300Å or smaller and palladium deposited on the carrier. The gas cleaning catalyst is produced by a production method comprising the steps of depositing a palladium compound on the carrier and converting the palladium compound into palladium by hydrogen reducing the carrier bearing the palladium compound.
