PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester film for a protective film suitable for use in a production process, etc., of an optical film used in a flat display such as a liquid crystal display or a plasma display. SOLUTION: The polyester film has a slightly pressure-sensitive adhesive layer on one surface and an antistatic layer on the surface opposite thereto. The surface resistance of the antistatic layer surface is≤1×10<SP>13</SP>Ω/sq. and the amount of a film surface oligomer on the antistatic surface after heating at 180°C for 10 min is 0.01-2.1 mg/m<SP>2</SP>.
