AIR BAG DEVICE

A floating type air bag device with a steering horn contact device enabling the push-in of a retainer beyond a clearance between a fixed contact on a retainer side and a movable contact on a module cover side. The air bag device comprises a retainer (10) having an inflator and a folded air bag fitted thereto, fixed to the core (60) of a steering wheel, and having a plurality of hooks (13) formed on the side wall part (12) thereof, a module cover (20) covering the air bag, having opening parts (22b) in a leg piece part (22) projectedly formed on the rear side thereof to which the hooks (13) are applied, and vertically movable relative to the retainer (10), a horn plate (30) fitted along the peripheral edge of the module cover (20), a contact plate (40) fitted to the retainer (10) or the horn plate (30), and a horn spring (50) disposed between the horn plate (30) and the retainer (10). The contact plate (40) further comprises a clip part (41) fixedly held on one side of the retainer (10) or the horn plate (30) and a plate spring part (42) brought into contact with the contact (34) of the horn plate (30) or the retainer (10) on the other side when a horn sounds.
