摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid adhesion of fuel of a catalyst device for exhaust emission control added in an exhaust manifold on a wall surface of an exhaust system without carried on exhaust gas flow. <P>SOLUTION: An engine 11 has a V-shape eight cylinder structure, and is provided with the catalyst device 36 for exhaust emission control in a middle of exhaust gas passages 28L, 28R having exhaust manifold 25L, 25R connected to a exhaust port 17 of each cylinder. Cylinder heads 13L, 13R are provided with an adding nozzle 44 adding fuel for activating a catalyst of the catalyst device for exhaust emission control to the exhaust manifolds 25L, 25R. Non-exhaust stroke during which exhaust gas is not discharged from an inside of the exhaust manifold to the exhaust gas passage exists during operation of the engine. ECU 46 controlling addition of fuel by the adding nozzle 44 controls adding nozzle to perform fuel addition from the adding nozzle during a period excluding non-exhaust stroke of a cylinder corresponding to the exhaust manifold in a side where the adding nozzle 44 is provided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
