PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce costs for components and power consumption, and to attain miniaturization. SOLUTION: An AV player is provided with an HDD 1 for storing AV data, an HDD reading control part 2 for controlling reading of AV data stored in the HDD 1, a recording control part 3 for controlling to store the AV data in the HDD 1, an HDD drive control part 4 for controlling the rotation of the disk of the HDD 1, a system control part 5 for controlling the whole AV player, a memory 6, and a reproduction processing part 7 for carrying out reproduction processing of the AV data. A CPU for controlling reading of the HDD 1 and a CPU for decoding AV data read from the HDD 1 are used in common, and the memory 6 for temporarily storing the AV data read from the HDD 1 is utilized also for storing decoded AV data to reduce the number of CPUs and memories.
