PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk drive and its manufacturing method that can effectively prevent the contact between a slider and a magnetic disk. SOLUTION: This is a manufacturing procedure of a magnetic head assembly having a slider incorporating a magnetic head at its tip end to face the magnetic disk. It includes a step of manufacturing the magnetic head assembly by setting the roll angle formed between the slider and the disk surface around the long axis of the magnetic head assembly to the center of the predetermined range where the slider does not contact the magnetic disk surface when loaded, and a step of attaching the magnetic head assembly on the base in a swingablly, The magnetic disk drive is manufactured by the above manufacturing method.
