PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a specimen sampling vessel for preventing an accident that a plug body separates suddenly from an opening and hence a specimen in the vessel disperses or a foreign substance mixes into the specimen. SOLUTION: The specimen sampling vessel 1 comprises a tubular vessel 2 having the opening 2a at its upper end and a bottom 2b at its lower end, the plug body 3 liquid-tightly attached to the opening 2a of the tubular vessel 2, and a cover 4 attached to the opening 2a of the tubular vessel 2 so as to cover the plug body 3. The tubular vessel 2 has a flange 5 extending radially outside at the end of the opening 2a. The cover 4 has a top plate section 4a for covering the upper face 3c of the plug body 3, a side face section 4b for covering a side face of the flange 5, and an engaging section 4c that is positioned on the bottom 2b side of the tubular vessel 2 than the flange 5 and is engaged with the flange 5 not to exceed the flange 5 when the cover 4 is intended to move in the opposite direction to the bottom 2b of the tubular vessel 2.
