Provided is a secondary battery which secures easy assembly and is improved in sealing property by modifying the structure of a gasket and is enhanced in the reliance of a battery. The secondary battery comprises an electrode group which comprises a separator and a positive electrode and a negative electrode located at the both sides of the separator; a case which accommodates the electrode group; a cap plate(31) which is provided with a penetration hole(32) where the terminal penetrates; and a gasket(40) which is inserted into the penetration hole of the cap plate to seal between a terminal and the cap plate. The thickness of front end of the gasket is different from that of rear end along the direction to be inserted.
