摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheel bearing device which can be caulked with low working force and whose product is shaped with less constraints needed to avoid the interference with a caulking mold, while preventing the come-off of an inner ring in the process of assembly on a vehicle, and to provide its caulking method. SOLUTION: The wheel bearing device for bearing a driving wheel comprises a double-row balls 5 laid between raceway surfaces 3, 4 of an outward member 1 and an inward member 2. The inward member 2 consists of a hub ring 9 having a wheel mounting hub flange 9a and a through-hole 11, and an inner ring 10 fitted to an inner ring fitting face portion 15 on the inboard side end outer periphery of the hub ring 9. On the inner peripheral face of the inner ring 10, a stepped portion 16 is provided which has a depth equivalent to the inner peripheral edge of an end face 10a of the inner ring 10. A caulked portion 9c formed by caulking the hub ring 9 is engaged with an axial stepped face 16b of the stepped portion 16. The caulking mold having an inclination of 5-60°is pushed against a large-diameter stepped portion 11b for caulking work with low working load while avoiding interference between the hub and the caulking mold.
