PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a twin-roll type casting machine capable of preventing occurrence of crack in the peripheral direction of a cooling roll. SOLUTION: This twin-roll type casting machine is provided with one pair of cooling rolls 1a, 1b forming the roughness-changing areas A2, A3 where surface roughness is roughened toward the centers in the roll axial line directions near the end parts in the roll axial line directions and forming the roughness-equalized areas B2, B3 having rougher surfaces compared with the roughness-changing areas A2, A3 at the middle portions in the roll axial line directions so that the areas B2, B3 are continued to the roughness-changing areas A2, A3, and roughness distributions of the roughness-changing areas A2, A3 and the roughness-equalized areas B2, B3 facing one another, respectively are made different. In this way, since portions with which the solidified shells 9 formed at the outer peripheral surfaces of both cooling rolls 1a, 1b are brought into contact are made long, the mutual contact areas of the solidified shells 9 are increased and thus, the compression stress S acting on the cooling rolls 1a, 1b, is dispersed.
