PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suspension tool and a vertical pipe construction method for connecting pipes from an upper part to a lower part by lifting the pipes one by one from the lowest story to the uppermost part and fixing them at that location. SOLUTION: This suspension tool is provided with a connection device 11 for connecting with a traction means arranged in an upper part, a hook means 13 locked in a bottom part of a pipe, a main body shaft 50 passing through the inside of the pipe member, and a run-out preventing means 12 for holding at least an upper end part of the pipe member coaxially with the main body shaft. The run-out preventing means is preferably provided with an outline forming substantially a conical shape or a pyramid shape in the upper end part of the pipe member. The procedures for lifting the first pipe member using this suspension tool and fixing it at the uppermost part of a vertical pipe, lifting the second pipe member and joining it with a lower end part of the first pipe, and connecting an upper end part of the second pipe member with the lower end part of the first pipe member are repeated to construct the vertical pipe in a building sleeve.
