It is possible to provide a mobile information terminal capable of reducing the trouble required for authentication. A sub camera is started (Fig. 9(a)) according to the user's operation for selecting "secret mode", and after initialization of the sub camera to be ready for imaging, an authentication process is automatically performed (Fig. 9(b)). This eliminates performing imaging after waiting until the sub camera becomes ready for imaging after started, thereby reducing the trouble required for authentication. Moreover, it is possible to reduce the time lag generated until imaging operation is performed after the user confirms that the camera has started and become ready for imaging. Thus the authentication process can be performed in a short time after start of the sub camera, which reduces the time required for the authentication process.
