BACKLIGHT ASSEMBLY AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY HAVING THE SAME

A backlight assembly and an LCD comprising the same are provided to realize white light easily without high cost, by using a color converter for converting blue light into the white light. A backlight assembly comprises a light guiding plate(50) and a light source part(70) for supplying light to the light guiding plate. The light guiding plate has a plurality of color converters(60a) formed on at least one surface thereof. The light source part emits blue light. The color converters convert the blue light emitted from the light source part into white light. Each of the color converters comprises a fluorescent material.
