An apparatus and a method for analyzing coverages of each sector by using field data are provided to derive the size(direction/distance/angle and so on) of coverages of each base station or sectors by effectively utilizing a field measurement value as the most reliable data of a field and determine whether the coverages is proper, thereby being utilized for coverage optimization. A method for analyzing coverages of each sector by using field data comprises the following steps of: calculating representative values of an RSSI(Receive Signal Strength Indicator) and a signal-to-noise ratio within the field data with respect to each unit area by dividing a field area into a certain unit area(S101,S102); classifying data according to each sector by referring to PN(Pseudo Noise) offset information in order to remove effects of side and back lobes of an antenna, and removing data about a unit area located within a certain distance from an antenna of each sector(S103); deriving the coverages by deriving main lobe radiation directions of each sector, a coverage angle and a range of maximum radiation power by using data about a unit area remained after the removing(S104~S108); and calculating a handoff area with a neighboring sector by using the derived coverage by sectors(S108).
