PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform recording or reproducing for a multi-layer disk in which a plurality of kinds of information can be recorded in a plurality of recording layers with different formats while recognizing formats of respective layers. SOLUTION: This disk has a lead-in area in an inner periphery part, and has a plurality of information recording layers between the inner periphery part and an outer periphery part. The lead-in region includes information (layer format table) indicating respective formats of the plurality of information recording layers (layer 1, layer 0), and a type of a formats (HD_DVD-ROM format, DVD-ROM format) used for each of the plurality of information recording layers (layer 0, layer 1) are discriminated by the information (format of layer 1, format of layer 0) indicating respective formats.
