PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reclining operating device exhibiting high operability, maintainability, or rigidity in a simple construction without using a cable body such as a wire. SOLUTION: A gas spring 7 is arranged in the lower portion of a chair having a seat 3, an armrest 6, and a reclinable backrest 4 in a longitudinal direction of the seat, the rear end of the gas spring 7 is coupled to the lower end of the backrest 4, and the front end of the same having a valve is coupled to the lower portion of the constituting member of the chair, an action lever 9 whose lower end faces the valve is erected swingably forward and rearward along the armrest, and the upper portion of the action lever 9 is formed in the operating portion of the lever 9.
