A rotary compressor and an air conditioner with the same are provided to reduce loss caused by slippage of a driving motor to improve performance of the compressor and an air conditioner using the same, and reduce loss caused by heating of a rotor. In a rotary compressor, refrigerant is R407a or R410a of HFC, and oil is fatty acid ester oil consisting of at least two or more ester bonds in molecules and has viscosity of 2-70cSt at 40 ‹C and 1-9cSt at 100 ‹C. A driving motor has a stator(21) inserted in a casing and fixed to an inner surface of the casing, and a rotor rotatively disposed in the stator and coupled with a rotation shaft(23) inside. The stator is formed by stacking a plurality of steel plates(25) and wound with field coils(26) at salient poles(25a). The rotor is formed by stacking a plurality of steel plates having flux barriers(27a) in circumferential and radial directions. A distance from a rim of the steel plates and ends of the flux barriers are uniform. A width of the flux barriers in the radial direction and a gap therebetween become wider toward the center. An insulating film is formed of a crystalline plastic film having a glass transition temperature of 50‹C or higher, and positioned between the stator and the field coil. The field coil is formed with an enamel coating layer having a glass transition temperature of 120 ‹C or higher.
