A side-view warning mirror module for warning of the rear lateral side and a control method thereof are provided to develop a microwave distance sensor by using the Doppler effect, which detects more accurately than an ultrasonic sensor, and to mount the microwave distance sensor in a side mirror. A side-view warning mirror module(1) for warning of the rear lateral side comprises a microwave distance sensor(7) and a control unit installed at one side of a side mirror(18); a switch signal transmitting unit and a power supply unit mounted at one side of the side mirror; a source unit; at least one microcomputer control unit treating signals generated from the source unit and switch output signals about turn-signal lamps; an ECU(Electronic Control Unit) processing signals from the microcomputer control unit; a green light(5) as a safety mode, turned on when the distance sensor detects nothing; and a red light(6) as a warning mode, turned on when the distance sensor detects something.
