Provided is a use of an immunoregulator peptide obtained or derived from the beta-loop 2 region of beta-HCG capable of regulating Th1 and/or Th2 cell activity for the production of a pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of a chronic inflammatory immune-mediated disorder. Also described are a pharmaceutical compositions and a method for treating an immune-mediated disorder. Immune-mediated disorders as include chronic inflammatory disease, such as diabetes type I or II, rheumatic disease, Sjögrens syndrome, multiple sclerosis transplantation-related immune responses such as graft-versus-host-disease and post-transfusion cytothrombopenia.
