<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain various kinds of alignment, with a liquid crystal display element as the standard, using simple equipment. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display element 1, having a panel part 2 where liquid crystal L, is filled between a pair of substrates and a display area 21, provided near the center part of the panel part 2 and for displaying an image, by driving of the liquid crystal L, is provided with mark pixels 22-a, 22-b displayed at the outside of the display area 21 of the panel part 2 by the driving of the liquid crystal L. The liquid crystal display has a light-shielding mask 3 attached thereto, on the basis of the mark pixels 22-a, 22-b.
