The blower comprises a first blower nozzle unit (2) for blowing air towards the printing gap, and a second nozzle unit (3) for blowing air into a second direction pointing towards the sleeve face of the print cylinder (DZ) in front of the printing gap (DS). A control unit (4) such as a pneumatic switching mechanism directs the air stream. The two nozzle units extend over substantially the entire format width. A third blower nozzle (7) can be provided to blow air radially to the print cylinder axis. Independent claim describes method for blowing air into gusset area in front of printing gap where the air stream can be switched over.
