PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a massage mechanism arranged in a backrest portion of a chair type massage machine and capable of properly reducing a number of parts and weight. SOLUTION: The massage mechanism 6 comprises a therapeutic mechanism 6A arranged in the backrest portion 3, an oscillating mechanism 6C supporting the therapeutic mechanism 6A and oscillating the same in a substantial fore and aft direction, and an elevating and lowering mechanism 6B supporting the oscillating mechanism 6C and moving the same in a substantial vertical direction, wherein the elevating and lowering mechanism 6B has side portion frames 51 respectively arranged in left and right sides and a lower frame 53 spanning between the side frames 51 and supporting both the frames, and the oscillating mechanism 6C is supported oscillatably relative to the lower frame 53 of the elevating and lowering mechanism 6B.
