PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording device capable of executing the efficient management of images, a method of recording images, and a program therefor. SOLUTION: A digital camera is provided with a favorite folder (or historical image folder) 14b separated from a DCIM folder 14a for recording original image files in a recording medium 14 for recording picked-up original images. The favorite folder 14b records files of shrunk images of the original ones selected by a user (or all of the original images). The shrunk image file in the favorite folder 14b (or historical image folder) is not allowed to be the object for erasure by a regular erasure mode, and not allowed to be erased even if original images are erased. The display and erasure of the shrunk image files are possible only in a specified mode. The searching and content confirmation (or confirmation of picked-up history) of an image can be made with the file of the reduced size even if the original image file has been moved to a personal computer or the like.
