PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a contact having both a grounding and a latch mechanism, and of a socket having the contact. SOLUTION: The method has a stage of punching out a thin metal plate by a prescribed die, and a stage of forming the socket by an insertion mold method. Finally, a rib is separated from a plurality of contacts after the socket is formed by the insertion mold method. In the stage of punching out the thin metallic plate, both of a plurality of slender contacts having the longitudinal axis and an extended part having the grounding and/or the latch mechanism become to have a state formed at the rib.
