A polarisation scrambler is provided which includes an optical phase modulator and an amplitude modulator waveguide. The optical phase modulator requires no misalignment in polarisation state to that which emerges from the amplitude modulator waveguide. In particular, the optical phase modulator and amplitude modulator waveguide are integrated on a single substrate. |
